In the territory of Soriano nel Cimino (Vt), on the Ortana state road at the height of km 12, this Natural Monument protects an area of naturalistic but also archaeological and cultural interest. The area, which covers about 70 hectares, is extremely peculiar in terms of both nature and archaeological emergencies. The site is located on a peperino plateau typical of the Tuscia landscape, which, due to its strategic characteristics and easy defensibility, has been occupied since the early Middle Ages. From a naturalistic point of view, it is characterized by high biodiversity, that is, a very high number of living species concentrated in small areas.
