UNITED STATES: July 23, 2018: At the intersection of Willisville Road and Welbourne Road sits a small building and its up for nomination of the to the National Register of Historic Places. Mosby Heritage Area Association partnering with historic Loudoun County village to seek National Register of Historic Places nomination of the former Willisville school. Willisville -- a historically African-American village nestled between Bloomfield and St. Louis in southwest Loudoun -- has teamed up with the Mosby Heritage Area Association to try to secure the nomination. The application demands a survey of the village’s Methodist Church and its 15 residences, former schoolhouse and country store. To aid in the research, the Mosby Heritage Area Association is looking to engage a professional historic preservationist. To fund this attempt, the association hopes to raise $15, 000.
