Altre informazioni:
George the third was the third 'Hanoverian' King of England and the United Kingdoms, but the first to have been born in Britain and speak fluent English. He had a remarkably long reign (60 years) and early on was a great patron of the new interest in science and the improvements in agriculture which became known as the agricultural revolution. He was nicknamed "Farmer George" which was an insult from people who thought agriculture was a demeaning interest for a monarch. Later in his reign he suffered increasing periods of incapacitating mental illness. Eventually His son took over the Royal duties, acting as Prince Regent. ( The Regency period) This son became George the fourth when his father died.
