Gursky's spectral tarsiers (Tarsius spectrumgurskyae) on their nest tree in broad daylight, an anomaly of this nocturnal primate living in the rainforest of Tangkoko Nature Reserve, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Around 1, 660 individuals of this species live in Batuputih Nature Tourism Park—close to the nature reserve, where they are one of the main tourism attractions, according to Arrijani (Department of Biology, FMIPA, Universitas Negeri Manado) and Muhammad Rizki (Department of Biology, FMIPA, University of Palangka Raya) in their Feb 2020 paper on Biodiversitas._However, another team led by Sharon L. Gursky warned in their 2022 paper that spectral tarsier is facing a real threat caused by ecotourism. "Even when wildlife viewing is carried out exclusively by qualified and trained guides, tourism led to substantial changes in behavior of the viewed tarsiers, " they wrote. Details are given by another team of scientists led by Dominique A. Bertrand, who wrote that human activities in wildlife habitat, including ecotourism, could bring negative impacts, such as "increased pollution, disruption of daily wildlife routines and social behavior, increased risk of disease transmission, and indications of increased stress in wildlife."_Climate change is also a real threat, with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) concludes that rising temperatures have led to ecological, behavioral, and physiological changes in wildlife species and biodiversity. Tangkoko forest is indeed threatened by climate change. "Between 2012 and 2020, temperatures increased by up to 0.2 °C per year in the forest, " wrote another team of primatologists led by Marine Joly in a paper published on the International Journal of Primatology.
