The services were held in Union Chapel, corner of Baltic and .Micliiganavenues. Mr. Hartley served as pastor until March. 1881, when Rev. Z. T. I )nganwas appointed by the Bishop presiding over the Xew Jersey Conference of thatyear. The Lnion Chapel soon becan-.e too small for the growing congregationunder Mr. Dugans pastorate, and it was decided to build a new church. .Accord-ingly, a lot was purchased at CM-.io and .Arctic aennes. and the church erected.The basement story only was completed under the jiastorate of Mr. Dugan. whoserved the church faithfully for three years.
