A host looks at a rare Ru Kiln brush washer from Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) during a preview of Sotheby's Hong Kong Chinese Works of Art Autumn Sales in October in Hong Kong, China, 24 August 2017. Sotheby's Hong Kong presented a rare Ru Kiln brush washer from Northern Song Dynasty during the Chinese Works of Art Autumn Sales in October. The brush washer came from the Le Cong Tang collection, and is one of only four known heirloom Ru wares in private hands, Sotheby's Hong Kong said, adding it is estimated to fetch in excess of 100 million HK dollars (about 13 million U.S. dollars). Nicolas Chow, Deputy Chairman of Sotheby's Asia and International Head and Chairman of Chinese Works of Art said there will be a unique opportunity to acquire a near perfect and ravishing small brush washer from the Northern Song dynasty Ru kilns, the most celebrated and forged ceramic type throughout Chinese history. The brush washer is the finest example extant among all four heirloom pieces in private hands, Chow said. To be held on Oct. 3, 2017, the auction will offer more than 230 lots estimated in excess of 600 million HK dollars, according to Sotheby's Hong Kong.
