A baby rhino runs alongside its mother as she grazes on grass in their new safe home. BOTSWANA: STUNNING images showing the incredible effort made by conservationists to save one-hundred white rhinos from poachers has been revealed in a new book. One photo showed conservationists attempting to move a blindfolded adult rhino into its new safe home in Botswana after being rescued from a poaching hotspot. Another captured a baby rhino bounding joyfully alongside its mother who was busy grazing on grass. The photos were taken over five years as part of the Rhinos Without Borders Initiative; a conservation project set up by husband and wife wildlife photographers and documentary makers, Beverly and Dereck Joubert. The project aims to move 100 rhinos from poaching hotspots across Africa to safe havens created in Botswana. The couple primarily use a Canon EOS 1D X and a Canon EOS 1DS Mark IV to capture their images. The wonderful images showing the size and strength but also vulnerability of these magnificent creatures are featured in their new book Blood Moon: Rescuing the Rhino, published by Rizzoli International Publications. Rhinos are often poached for their horns which are then sold for use in Chinese medicine, despite there being no evidence of any health benefits whatsoever. One single rhino horn can be worth up to £250, 000 on the black market. Blood Moon: Rescuing the Rhino, is published by Rizzoli International Publications and is available to purchase on Amazon for £49.31. mediadrumworld.com / Beverly Joubert / Dereck Joubert
