The installation supplies freshwater to the Dayak Iban community living at the longhouse in Sungai Utik, Batu Lintang, Embaloh Hulu, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, Indonesia._Cleaning up water source in rainforest: a weekly mission for this traditional community in Kalimantan, Indonesia_A group of men take a 1, 5 hour-walk through forest trails with a mission to clean up the stream, reservoir and pipe installation that provide water supply for their traditional community living in a Dayak Iban longhouse in Sei Utik in Kapuas Hulu regency, West Kalimantan province, Indonesia (2012)._This group, accompanied by Apay Janggut—a well-known nature defender figure of this community, drain the concrete reservoir that allow them to clean and check the pipe system from muds or leakage. They also collecting natural waste out of the water body supplying the reservoir, up to small waterfalls in a narrow creek surrounded by dense rainforest located about 50 meters from the reservoir._The longhouse community assigns this weekly maintenance task to several groups of men working in shifts. "Today is our shift, " says one of the men villagers, "so we do not do things that we usually do, like farming."_They bring rice and eggs from the longhouse then cook them with firewood, along with freshwater fishes and vegetables that they catch and harvest along the walk, for a nice group lunch on the side of the reservoir once the mission is accomplished.
