A 16:9 photo of an early morning at Playa de Portizuelo, a natural heritage site located in the municipality of Valdés, within the Vaqueira region of western Asturias, near the town of Luarca, Spain. Known for its natural beauty, this semi-urban beach is characterised by its unique pebbles and quartzite rocks, which have been a source of inspiration for many artists. It is also adorned with beautiful cliffs and vibrant green areas, which contribute to its picturesque charm. The geological features of the beach are particularly notable, especially the white quartzites from the upper term of the Serie de los Cabos covered by the dark-hued Pizarras de Luarca. These features are most visible at low tide, when unique rock formations such as the Severo Ochoa Rock, named after the scientist who is said to have found inspiration here, become visible.
