A violent struggle. India: THESE TRAGIC images show the last goodbye of a poor monkey, falling prey to a crocodile. One incredible image captures the monkey waving goodbye to the world from the mouth of the crocodile before it is consumed. Marsh crocodiles, also known as mugger crocodiles, can reach up to 16.5 feet in length and can weigh in excess of 1, 500 pounds. They are excellent swimmers, reaching speeds of up to 18 miles per hour in short bursts. These images were captured by wildlife photographer Koushik Sarkar (36) in Ranthambore India, using a Nikon Z6ii camera. ?We were desperate and were roaming around the jungle hoping for a sighting of something. Suddenly we heard a close call of a Sambar Deer, ? said Koushik. ?Generally, whenever you hear Sambar calls, there is a 99% chance tigers is nearby. We headed towards the exact location from where we heard the call. It was near a small water logging area or a mid-size natural pond. ?We waited for a good 30 to 40 minutes but no luck. Suddenly, we heard some noise from the water. We knew it was probably a crocodile. ?We could see only the eyes above the water level, a huge croc floating, probably female as we also spotted a sub-adult croc nearby. ?On the opposite side of the pond we saw a monkey about to have some water. Within seconds, the croc jumped and got hold of the monkey in her jaw. The crocodile pulled hard on her prey and swung the whole body of the monkey onto the water?s surface. ?It was an exciting and scary experience at the same time. This was probably the first time I had this close encounter with crocodile.? mediadrumimages/KoushikSarkar
