One of at least 39 mass graves of 5000 to 7000 civilians, mostly Polish intellectuals (national activists, teachers, priests) from Kociewie, Kaszuby and Pomerania, local Jewish inhabitants of Starogard Gdanski and patients of mental hospital in Kocborowo, exterminated in Las Szpegawski (Szpegawsk Forest) near to Starogard Gdanski by Nazi German Volksdeutscher Selbstschutz, from September 1939 to January 1940, during the beginning of Nazi German occupation of Poland.
