The castle of Arcos de la Frontera, also called the castle of the Dukes of Arcos and the old fortress, is a fortification located in the Plaza del Cabildo, in the highest part of the urban area of the Cadiz town of Arcos de la Frontera, Spain. It was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) in 1985 with the typology of a monument. The current castle responds to the reforms carried out in the 14th and 15th centuries. From the original fortress, a large horseshoe arch is preserved at the old western entrance and a canvas in the southwest. The Torre del Secreto, the eastern walkway, the southern flanking towers, the large cistern in the parade ground and the pyramidal-covered merlons date from the 14th and 15th centuries.
