Standing on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Broadway Avenue, you see the World famous Ryman Auditorium and Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. The Ryman is, of course, the original home of The Grand Ole Opry, and Tootsie’s is where many Opry stars got their start and would hang out during the show until it was their time to go on stage. Modern buildings have grown up around lower Broadway but the whole area is still filled with live music spilling out onto the streets from the many bars and clubs. Record shops, guitar stores, clothing stores, and restaurants line the street from Fifth Avenue on down to First Avenue, and along Second Avenue as well as other streets in the area.
