Crowds at the pier head for Queen Anne naming Cunard’s new cruise ship “Queen Anne” was on the River Mersey in Liverpool on Monday the 3rd June 2024 for her official naming ceremony. She moored at the pier head just north of the Three Graces in the morning and then for the actual naming ceremony she was moved out into the river. As this happened crowds of onlookers are packed on the pier head watching the ship take up position in the river. The ship was on her “British Isles Festival Voyage” that left Southampton on the 24th of May and has cruised up the eastern side of the UK, across the top of Scotland, visited Belfast and this is her first visit to Liverpool This afternoon she was officially named in a ceremony at the pier head while a bottle of fizz was smashed on her part of her super structure at her bow out in the River Mersey. Liverpool is considered to be the spiritual home of the Cunard Line that started with the first transatlantic voyage from here in 1840.
