Prehistoric World is a great find for children as well as adult dinosaur enthusiasts. Visitors are permitted to touch the figures (no climbing, sitting, or “riding” them, though, please), so it’s literally a hands-on experience. Kids can also enjoy a “fossil pit” where they can uncover preburied “fossils” (hand-digging allowed only—no tools). The entire park is clean, tidy, and well-maintained, with informational signs accompanying each figure. It lacks the amenities of a major park, zoo, or other large outdoor attraction, however, so don’t expect food stands or gift shops or places where you can easily change a diaper. (You’ll find two porta-potties in the parking lot and two bathrooms back of the entrance.) You can bring your own food, though, as picnic tables are on the grounds. The attraction is open from late May to the Labour Day weekend in September but your safest bet is to phone first to ensure that the attraction will indeed be open for your visit.
